This causes tiredness and fatigue. After fasting over a long time, eating dates first can help the body fulfill glucose requirements quickly and keep the energy level high.
There are several spiritual beliefs also associated with this habit. Dates are also regarded as the fruit of the Prophet. Prophet knew that eating dates in Islam would help the wellbeing of the people . He was reported to have said, “He who eats seven Ajwa dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.” In Hadith literature it is written that the Messenger of Allah would break his fast with ripe dates before he would pray. Therefore, eating dates during this time has a spiritual significance.
